Expectations: As employees of Inflexion and public-facing representatives of Inflexion and the Portico community, we want to set clear expectations for the team of coaches, that includes the following:

  • treat everyone in the Portico community—regardless of their race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or age—with respect, examining and actively working to remove our own judgment or bias;
  • participate, collaborate, and contribute with others in the Portico community;
  • be eager to grow, innovate, and be vulnerable with each other as we implement best practice;
  • be transparent and empathetic as we work together through problems of practice and implementing positive change;
  • share accountability for the transformation of learning environments to ones that provide our students with more power and authority over their educational experience;
  • take initiative to learn the name, face, story, and strengths of each of the school leaders you are working with;
  • provide the school leaders you work with what they need (resources, support, etc.) to maintain forward momentum and integrate key Portico concepts;
  • use different strategies to help “unstick” school leaders to help them overcome obstacles;
  • listen and respect what school leaders and coaches share in confidence;
  • document key points and next steps from my coaching conversations in the Portico site to providing a “running record” of conversation for the leaders and ensure that Copilot meetings are logged for attendance tracking purposes;
  • monitor and use Inflexion provided email, calendar, and other technology as requested for communication and scheduling (all communications and calendar invitations from Inflexion will be sent to your Inflexion email and calendar);
  • communicate regularly and openly with your Inflexion Facilitator regarding time commitments (including vacation and personal and professional obligations that could impact your coaching availability), scheduling, and needs to help support Portico principals; and
  • keep track of hours worked including coaching time, pre- and post- coaching planning, and meetings with coaches and/or Inflexion team and enter these hours on a weekly basis.
