Students are experiencing the impact of ICE activity in deeply personal ways within their schools and communities. As educators, our responsibility is twofold: to ensure our students feel safe and to support them to take meaningful action.
In this special Crowdsource session, we center student experiences, creating space for their voices while also providing safe opportunities to process emotions and concerns.
Students possess the energy, urgency, and desire to act; schools play a critical role by providing guidance, structures, and tools to support intentional engagement.
We will focus on exploring the most urgent questions:
- What conversations must be held with school leadership and staff to ensure alignment?
- How do we equip students who want to advocate for the protection of their peers?
- How can we provide multiple, inclusive avenues for student voices to get heard?
There is an urgent moment unfolding, and students want to respond now. At the same time, long-term strategies are essential. How do we equip students for both immediate action and sustained civic engagement? Join us to hear from those who have wrestled with these challenges and leave with actionable ideas for building and maintaining your school as a safe harbor.
