Unearthing Our Potential: Building Stronger Schools Through Community Asset Mapping
October 8 @ 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm PDT
Presented by: Manuel Colon, Inflexion’s Chief Program Officer, and Elise Kuykendall, Inflexion’s Director of Partnerships
Schools don’t exist in isolation. They thrive when they leverage the strengths of the entire community. This interactive workshop introduced the powerful tool of community asset mapping.
This isn’t just about staff and classrooms, but about families, local businesses, and organizations–all working together to propel student success. Community asset mapping helps you uncover invaluable strengths–people, programs, and resources–that already exist in your community.
In this workshop we explore:
- Strategies for building relationships and fostering collaboration with community partners.
- The process of developing a visual asset map that showcases the strengths of your school community.
By participating, you’ll be ready to:
- Identify valuable resources, including people, organizations, and programs that can support student achievement.
- Create a community asset map for your school or district.
