INTRO

This short video and brief reflection activity can help you assess whether you’re headed in the “right” direction as a leader. As Simon Sinek describes in the video, “A WHY is like a compass direction; it tells you where you’re going.”

OBJECTIVES

  • Understand and reflect on your “why” as a leader

  • Assess your recent/current decisions for whether or not they align with your “why” & adjust as needed

What is your why as a leader?

Reflect on what it felt like when you discovered it. Or, if you’re just now discovering it, what does it feel like?

What are some recent/current choices/decisions you’ve made as a leader that you feel strongly align with your ‘why’?

Be specific. How do you know? How do they feel?

What are some recent/current choices/decisions you’ve made as a leader that you feel do NOT align with your ‘why’?

Be specific. How do you know? How do they feel? Can you do anything to change or adjust these to get back on track? How? Make a plan and stick to it.

TIPS

  • Write or print your ‘why’ and keep it somewhere visible – this is your compass.
