Education has always been a priority in my life. My father made the decision to immigrate to the United States with one sole purpose.  He wanted to be sure that his children would have the opportunity to attend college. That goal was accomplished. My first experience in school after being in the United States for only a few months was positive and I am sure it is why I became a teacher. My kindergarten teacher took me and my family under her care. I barely spoke English and during the 1960’s there were no ESL services. I was a challenge, but she never gave up on me. She even attended my wedding decades later.

My career as a teacher with an emphasis of special education was rewarding and challenging. Advocating for students has always been my priority. As a special education administrator and then a middle school principal I have found that there isn’t a day that there isn’t some success, sometimes small, but you can always make a difference in a student’s life.
