The chapter discusses the retelling of stories from different perspectives to create the level of reflection that allows educators to see multiple lesson points and different decisions that could be made as a way of reflecting upon their practice. I think the approach discussed to create this dialogue is important to quickly getting high quality reflection and identifying different approaches in the short time we have with them each month.

I resonated with the idea of seeing the whole person you are coaching. As an administrator, I would often hear colleagues talk about educators or support staff in a way that focused on the weaknesses of that person and failed to recognize the strengths and their whole lived experienced into consideration when supporting them. I believe it is important to really know and understand those you are working with and coaching. I believe this better allows you to be present, listen to them with understanding and modify your approach to best meet their needs.

Whether enrolled in a graduate course, conference or working directly with a mentor/coach, the most significant learning I have experienced were those where I could apply what I was learning and my own perspectives on what might work immediately or quickly after. When I consider learning that was disconnected from my current experience, I would have to come back and re-engage in the learning when I needed to apply it to a current circumstance. At times, almost relearning to utilize it.
