I began teaching in 1990-1991 at Clatskanie Elementary School.  I taught two years of fourth grade before being laid off due to Ballot Measure 5.  I got married and traveled to Killeen, Texas where I taught three more years.  After my husband came off active duty, I came back to Clatskanie and taught three more years (this time at Clatskanie Middle School as a sixth grade teacher, a 7/8 language arts teacher, and in the leadership advisor role).  After begin laid off again (this time because of Ballot Measure 47), I spent one year in Vernonia, Oregon,  teaching sixth grade.  I was recalled back to Clatskanie and worked at the now Middle/High School for the next seven years in the sixth grade, 7/8 math, leadership, and as the middle school counselor.  I then relocated back to Clatskanie Elementary School and worked there as a classroom teacher and TOSA for 15 years before taking on the role of administrator in 2020.  I completed my administration coursework in the spring of 2022.  I am now in my fourth year as an elementary school principal.
