Crowdsource Coffee: More Than a Number: Using Data to Tell a Story

Virtual Event Virtual Event

Educators and administrators are evaluated at many levels, from community surveys to nationwide testing. Data collection is a powerful tool: it influences the allocation of resources at the state and national levels, informs decision making around instructional practices at the school level, and may even factor into where families choose to send their children to school. But the power of data lies in its analysis and the conclusions we draw. Crowdsource Coffee: Equity in the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Framework

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based framework for supporting students’ academic success, social-emotional learning, and school climate. Racial inequities in school discipline such as suspensions and expulsions are widespread and well-known, contributing to disparate outcomes for students of color. Hence, explicitly centering racial equity in implementing PBIS or any other behavioral management framework is crucial to helping all students succeed, instead of reinforcing existing inequities. This Crowdsource Coffee will feature discussion about how leaders can evaluate and rework their own systems with equity at their core.
